FUT Hair transplant at a clinic you can trust
What is a FUT hair transplant in Toronto?
Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) is an invasive surgical procedure for extreme hair loss cases. This treatment involves taking long strips of donor hair, separating them into smaller follicular units and implanting them into the affected area. At the Follicle HT Hair Transplant Clinic in Toronto, our board-certified surgeons, Drs. Mark Korman and Philip Solomon perform this technique.
Follicular unit transplantation is one of the oldest forms of hair surgery. Often referred to as the “strip harvesting method”, it is well suited to treating conditions such as male pattern baldness and androgenetic alopecia.
In our Toronto hair transplant clinic, this surgical procedure involves removing a long strip of hair follicles by making a small incision in the donor site at the back of the scalp. After removing this strip, your donor’s hair is examined under a microscope and intricately separated into small groups of individual follicular units (or “hair grafts”). These small follicular units are then implanted in the affected area.
Why should I get a FUT hair transplant in Toronto?
Hair loss is a problem that can affect men and women of all ages. Did you know that at least half of all men show signs of baldness? Even more astounding, this phenomenon can manifest itself in men as young as 20 or 30.
The most telling sign of male pattern baldness is the receding hairline and thinning of the crown of the head. Baldness is often hereditary but can sometimes be due to the overproduction of testosterone, among many other reasons.
Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT surgery) by our board-certified surgeons, Drs. Mark Korman and Philip Solomon can help directly combat the most extreme forms of hair loss and help you feel more confident!
Recovery after FUT hair surgery in Toronto
You should be able to return to work almost immediately after your hair FUT transplant operation in Toronto. The local anaesthetic is only administered during the medical procedure, so you should not feel dizzy in the following days after the procedure.
The expected recovery time for a follicular unit transplant is 2 to 4 weeks. This is mainly due to the time required for linear healing (of the donor site). If you’re concerned about the scar present after surgery, we recommend keeping your hair in the back and sides at a level 4 or higher. This should help conceal it!
Your new hair should also grow between 3 and 4 months after the procedure. After a year, they should have thickened completely. As with any hair restoration treatment, most of our Toronto hair transplant patients agree- the wait is worth it.
